SGA Elections gone wrong!

This is one big year within the realm of national politics. We are electing a new president and it is making people all over the country to get out and vote. Democrats, Republicans, and yes Independents too are coming out in large numbers because they know this will deeply affect all of us.

Just as important national politics are the world of collegiate elections in my opinion are just as important because those students are the representatives that will serving your best interests in the coming year.

Student Governments across the country are electing new officers into leadership roles that will define their university for 2008-2009 academic year.

Some Student Government elections do not run so smoothly. There is sometimes serious controversy that goes on some campus. At the University of South Florida, candidates were seen ripping down campaign posters and bribing fellow students.

Check out this video of John Constantinide, a graduate student at University of Miami who is a former Student Government Senate Speaker, discuss possible election violations of candidates.

Very entertaining.

Sean Clark, who wrote a post for Fire’s The Torch. It’s an interest idea of SGA Elections. It’s very important to get a different perspective of SGA Elections from institution to institution.

Check out the websites for University of Maryland’s SGA Elections and University of South Alabama’s SGA.
