Decisions Decisions
Deciding to attend Rowan University was a very hard decision for me because I had gotten into six different schools. I had a choice of universities in New Jersey or Pennsylvania.
West Chester, Kutztown, Montclair, Stockton, William Paterson, and Rowan all wanted me! I couldn’t believe it!
I really didn’t imagine myself staying in my home state for my college years. I wanted to get out of the Garden State and attend a university in a big city. I was thinking about going Washington DC or Boston. I wanted to apply to George Washington University, American University, Boston College, Northeastern, BU…so many colleges, so much money!
But something big happened me and I had to face reality. I wanted to go away, I did not want to drown in debt that easily equal the cost of my first home.
Deciding to attend Rowan was a very hard decision for me because I knew that the university at that time offered my major and organizations that I wanted to join. I just didn’t connect all of dots until I arrived for orientation in June of 2004.
One of the biggest things that helped me when I started school was getting involved. It was away to get out of my Chestnut Hall dorm room, and actually engage with other college freshman. I went to the Rec Center, took spinning and pilates classes. (I looked so funny! ) Joined student government, SUP, and The Whit.
Involvement saved me during my freshman year. I honestly do not know where I would be had I not gotten involved.
